Excelsior
I’m certain you’ve all heard by now, but several weeks ago we lost one of the most prolific imaginations of the past 95 years, Stan Lee had passed away.
He was one of the reasons I got into this lucrative drawing game. I remember sitting in my basement when I was a kid coming up with new and terribly drawn X-Men characters. The were not good. At all. But I came up with backstories for them, and they were fun, and they were all inspired by the work Stan Lee had done decades earlier.
Now, I have an art room practically devoted to Spider-Man.
So, as a tribute I attempted to make a photo-mosaic using some of my favorite characters (these don’t even make up one tenth of the things he had a hand in making). It didn’t turn out quite as I intended, but it was still cathartic and great to attempt to draw some of these things in my “style”.
Regardless of whatever attitude he may have had towards some of his co-creators, popular culture wouldn’t be where it is today without him.
Excelsior!
